Selaine d'Ambrosi writes:
"A local young woman who has bravely pressed charges against her abuser needs help with legal fees. She has an appointed public prosecutor who managed to leave out key evidence in one of the pre-trial hearings -- like, the only witness testimony! We are banning together to raise money for a private prosecutor, forensic investigation, psych interviews/rebuttals, other expert witnesses to ensure a successful outcome. The man on trial has been accused of molesting children for years. Most locals were too afraid to expose their children to the court system, so he went unchecked. Until Now. Please join us in the fight for justice. We need to send a clear, strong message: Our Community Will Not Tolerate Pedophiles!"
Justice for our Children is a musical benefit to help pay for the legal expenses and costs incurred by a courageous local young woman who is seeking justice in a sexual abuse prosecution in Sololá.
Many local musicians will be donating their time and talents to this special event. ALL proceeds will go toward supporting this prosecution of pedophilia in our community.
For those who can’t join us but want to help out, on-line donations will be accepted via http://porchdesalomon.org/donate/ --
fully tax-deductible (in the U.S.). All such donations will be passed through, 100%, to the young woman. She and her mother will spend at least $4000 prosecuting this case. Email Lloyd Monroe ([email protected]) so your donation can be counted in that night. Please help to spread the word.

The Mesoamerican Permaculture Institute (IMAP) and Atitlan Organics are excited to announce their annual Permaculture Design Certification Course, which takes place in beautiful Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, from November 30th through December 13th, 2014. This unique 120+ hour, 15 day course covers, in detail, the full standard PDC curriculum laid out by the International Permaculture Institute and is the only recognized certification course in Guatemala.
The first week takes place at the IMAP farm, which is just outside San Lucas. There is a strong focus on hands-on work with local communities, as well as Mayan cosmology and the importance of sustainable agriculture in relation to the big-picture cycles of nature. This component of the course is one-of-a-kind – it incorporates work with local communities, traditional Indigenous knowledge and permaculture design practices.
The second week will be held at Atitlan Organics, with a focus on food forest establishment, pond building, animal systems, and profitable permaculture models. Aside from these topics, water management, soil fertility, natural building, fermentation/value adding, and many other areas will be covered in detail. Electronic and printed materials (including the Permaculture Design Manual) will be given to all attendees.
We are really excited about this course and feel that it is one of the few courses that truly gives students the knowledge and understanding to go forth and execute sustainable permaculture designs that not only care for the planet, but also provide a healthy and happy livelihood for the practitioners, their families, and their communities.
The course costs $1,250 USD + 10% Paypal fee if paid via Paypal or $1,250 if paid in cash upon arrival or through a deposit into IMAP’s account (email for details). Costs include facilitation, materials, housing, food, internet, internal transportation and PDC certificate.
You can get an early-bird discount of $100 if you pay before October 1st (total: $1,150 + 10% Paypal fee).
For more info, please visit: http://www.imapermaculture.wordpress.com/mesoamerican-permaculture-design-course/ where you can find course details, FAQ, and the sign up page.
