Festival Atitlán is this Saturday and as always promises to be one of the best Atitlán events of the year. There'll be music, art, poetry, activities for kids and adults, amazing food and all our friends! And oh yeah, DANCING!!!!!!!
Tickets for the festival are Q125 and can be bought at the door. It's a full day that starts at 11 am and ends at midnight.
The festival organizers make every attempt to be green - and therefore encourage you to bring refillable water bottles - which can be refilled at the festival, with water from Hospitalito Atitlan.
See the festival link below for more details:

Jeanne Mendez is arranging boat transportation to and from the festival for Santa Cruzers and Jaibalitians. Contact her before Thursday, 4 pm to reserve your seats. Space is LIMITED!
There'll be two boats going to Santiago. The first leaving Santa Cruz at 10 am (making the usual stops and then on to Jaibalito). The second will leave at 3 pm.
There'll also be two boats coming back. The first leaving at 5 pm and the second after the last act has finished around midnight. (Jeanne says: The very best music is always at the end of the evening, folks! And you know I never want to miss a dance.)
Price is Q75 per person two ways with the early return and Q100 per person two ways with the late night return. This price applies to adults and children (since most of the kids around here are no longer lap sitters.) There will be a small surcharge per person for Jaibalito pickups and dropoffs.
(If there are not 10 people in the boat, the early trip will be Q750 for the boat, and the late will be Q1000) round trip.
Boats have been reserved with Andres and David Mendoza because they always have lights and make safety a priority. Having said that, the maximum number of people per boat is 12. Andres said he could take one or two more only if the lake is very calm. Therefore, it is important to RESERVE EARLY!!!!! by contacting Jeanne by Thursday, 4 pm.

The most recent community service award goes to the community of Paxanax Alto for their efforts and expense in paving the path from the Paxanax electric house up to Casa Alegre. The path had previously been paved but was wiped out in 2005 during Hurricane Stan. The path is now safer and easier to walk.
If you know of other greater Santa Cruz community projects or efforts deserving recognition, please drop me a line through the Contact Form.
