This week's Photo of the Week was taken of a precious owlet by Stephanie Poulhes of Santa Cruz la Laguna. Shephanie said she took it with her daughter Bettye's iPad. The little owl appeared in the kitchen one morning last week, apparently having entered through the chiminea. Stephanie and Dale Farmer caught the bird with a towel, took some mug shots and then released it "on its own recognizance."
If you have a photo to submit for the Photo of the Week series, please contact me.

JOIN US POOLSIDE FOR A FABULOUS FUNDRAISER!
A BENEFIT FOR THE NEW PANAJACHEL CLINIC
Centro de Bienestar de Salud, Mayan Medical Aid - Panajachel
The facility is generously provided by Francisco Javier Xep on Calle Monterrey immediately behind Hotel Kakchiquel.
TICKETS: Q200
Be sure to purchase your tickets early as we are limited in the number of attendees for this fundraiser. If the tickets for this event seem higher than what you have paid for other fundraisers in Panajachel, please consider how important this mission is. Remember that we are not just having a great party, we are working to establish a facility where people who cannot afford it can receive quality medical support for all members of their families. The new facility will save lives and relieve pain and suffering. And this service will begin as soon as your tickets are purchased. Ticket funds will be used immediately for medicine and supplies because the new clinic will be in operation just as soon as we can get it cleaned up and ready to receive patients.
Because space is limited, it is not anticipated that tickets will be available for sale at the door.
TICKETS INCLUDE: Live Music – Dancing – Delicious Dinner (drinks not included) - Auction, Raffles - Door Prizes
TICKETS MAY BE PURCHASED AT:
TUSCANI - DOS MUNDOS BAKERY - GUAJIMBOS - PALAPA - PANA ROCK
These locations will not be able to take reservations. For reservations, please send an email to [email protected] or call Linda at 5453-5786. For telephone contact please do not leave voice mail. As we know, that service is not very reliable in our neighborhood!
WANT TO PURCHASE TICKETS REMOTELY? OR JUST MAKE A DONATION?
Go go the "Donate" button on the website and for EACH ticket donate $27.00 or donate whatever amount you wish. Then send us an email to [email protected] and let us know the purpose and amount of your donation. If for tickets, provide the names of guests, telephone numbers and email addresses and how you wish to receive your tickets. If tickets are paid for they can be ready when you arrive.
Through the generosity of Francisco Javier Xep, an available physical location has been established where Mayan Medical Aid Panajachel can provide quality medical support for the people of our community who would not otherwise be able to pay for the care they need.
Please support this important project by attending our fundraiser on April 6th. And/or make a donation today on the "Donate" page. While we do now have a place for medical consultation, we must still provide medicines and obtain other necessary medical supplies in order to effectively treat our patients. Many individuals are critically in need of medical support - today - right now! Please remember that the advanced purchase of your tickets will allow us to begin acquiring medications and treating patients immediately.
With your help in purchasing tickets early, we may be able to save some lives and relieve some pain and suffering before our great event even takes place!

Somewhat published Panajachel poet Eric Halliwell has a website (rumi-nations.com) which has (among other ancillary themes) the mission of promoting poetry writing which expresses the heart as a therapy in the search for happiness. And now suddenly Eric has an epiphany of putting his money where his mouth is (instead of for instance, his foot) and starting up (if there are any interested) a weekly, etc. meeting group of sharing each other’s poetry. Meetings could be in my apartment and/or garden in Intermedio, or by alternating host sites if that were desired.
Maybe two groups, if in fact there is interest among Spanish speakers, to have a Spanish version. And so if any should be interested they can call Eric at 4032 4837 or email: [email protected]
A ver.
Asi que si alguien tiene tal interes, se lo puede llamar a 4032 4837 o por email: [email protected]
