Well, it has been 2 months since the last Cruz News Blog and I apologize for the lapse in service. First we went back to the States for a couple of weeks and I don't know about you, but it can be a whirlwind of activities going back. After we returned I started to feel ill and after several weeks knew I needed to have my gallbladder removed. Not much fun, but I am back and so is the Cruz News Blog.
I also apologize for the length of this post. It is longer than I usually like to do, but there is lots of stuff happening.

Join us for a special FREE concert by Sonidos De Mi Tierra, a Panajachel Fusion Marimba band. We are a group of musicians with a lot of energy and like to play the marimba which is the national instrument of our country, but since most of us are young people we have made fusion with different instruments.
This concert is part of The Cultural Bridge Project. The Cultural Bridge Project's mission is to connect musicians and artisans with local guides among indigenous communities, offering a space for relationship-building, intercultural communication and inspired creation.

If you plan to attend the Festival de Sumpango - the giant kite festival - this coming Saturday in Sumpango, don't forget that you can donate money to the barrileteros by going to the information booth. Their are over 600 people involved in the months of creating these amazing kites and they donate their own money toward the construction. They receive no financial support from Inguat or most of the tourist agencies that bus people in for the tours.

There is a new website out for the Lake Atitlan area, News Lake Atitlan - http://newslakeatitlan.com/
From their Facebook Page:
https://www.facebook.com/newslakeatitlan/timeline
About: The lake's only source for weekly news.
Description:
News Lake Atitlan was established for one purpose: to provide quality content for those with a vested interest in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. Because the Internet lacks a great deal of information about Lake Atitlan, this site was established as the lake's only source of weekly news.
Established in 2014 by J. Schmitt, the site is an answer to locals, visitors, expats, and tourists alike who simply need a good news source about this hidden gem high in the hills of Guatemala. News Lake Atitlan seeks to offer a portal to information regarding el lago - what's going on, what's for sale, where to eat, how to travel and, heck, even the ins and outs of being an expat. In the coming months, you will find in these pages information all of this and more. Wondering where the cheapest Gringo dinner can be found? Check out our Food section. Looking for a good Spanish tutor? Head over to Classifieds. Want to wind down after a busy week? Take a minute to peruse Health & Wellness. You've got the time - you're at el lago.
